It is interesting indeed, but I can see neither "Mostar" (Herzegovina) nor "Monastir" (Macedonia). Is it on the Ottoman seal? As far as I can make it out, the translation of the two-line Slavic text would be: "Through your friend A. Christodoulo in Belgrade, 3/16 October 1856". You can see similar Greek notes mentioning this intermediary on some lots that are currently being sold by Classicphil in Vienna (https://www.philasearch.com/en…adcrumbId=1627935235.1435, https://www.philasearch.com/en…adcrumbId=1627935235.1435). Naturally, I've already asked them for scans, but they still haven't responded. Do you need more information on the Christodoulo family in Belgrade? I remain at your disposal. Best regards to all!

Thanks. Can I cancel when the trial period expires? If you could send me some reverses, i. e. the contents of letters, I'd be happy to try and translate them for you and the other interested members. I could even make some historical comments. Best.

Splendid. Both the form and the contents are of scientific interest to me. These letters are precious windows into the past and deserve to tell their stories. Congratulations on having such items in your collection and thanks for sharing. I've scanned the only one I possess as a pdf-document, with a resolution of 600 dpi, which makes it impossible for me to share it here immediately. Best regards.

Dear members,
I'm interested in studying the letters sent from Macedonia and the Balkans to the "Macso and Manno" company in Pest(h) around the middle of the 19th century. Tens, if not hundreds of them have been offered and often sold on various auctions in the last decade. Would it be improper for me to ask those of you who go to such auctions to spread the word that scans of these letters are required for study? What other way would you propose? Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely yours,
John
