According to "La purification des lettres en France et a Malte" by Marino Carnévalé-Mauzan, there are at least 5 different subtypes of this cachet known.
The photograph shows a letter from my collection sent from Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe (1838) to Marseille with two slits (circa 5 mm).
